Job DescriptionZero Labs Product Development Team is pursuing
High Voltage Hardware Engineers who will focus on applying Zero
Labs's electrification technology to a wide variety of new and
innovative applications. They will be responsible for component
design requirements, execution of design, detailed analysis and
design verification testing of High Voltage Battery hardware
interface and disconnect components. They will also provide
technical direction and product development leadership for the
broader team.
- Synthesize component requirements from Electrical Architecture,
Application Packaging, System and Software requirements.
- Assess existing components for suitability in new
application
- For new or modified components, compile all vital requirement
documents for the component purchasing process and provide
technical expertise during purchasing process.
- Facilitate and provide technical direction to the component
Product Development Team (PDT).
- Negotiate design changes with stakeholders and update component
requirement documents.
- Facilitate component Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
(DFMEA) review meetings.
- Review and approve electrical and mechanical interface design
simulations, analysis, design demonstration plans and software
verification requirements.
- Sign off on design requirements in compliance verification
documents.
- Production Release components as required to meet program
timing.
- Review and approve validation plans as well as the component
Supplier's manufacturing process.
- Facilitate hardware warranty review meetings.
- Supervise Supplier development progress.
- Input design and verification lessons learned into Bill of
Design documents.Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in Design, Development, Validation and
release for automotive electrical/electronic components.
- Proven global experience working directly with electrical
component Suppliers.
- Experience with Component Statement of Requirements (SOR) and
Component Technical Specification (CTS) development and change
document management.
- Experience with automotive PPAP (Production Part Approval
Process) quality processes.
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation
of mechanical/electrical systems and components.
- Experience with high voltage battery related failure modes,
design and control mitigation strategies, and root cause
analysis.
- Ability to tackle, coordinate, define, and design complex
systems specifications, input/output processes and working
parameters.
- Functional knowledge of electrification and energy storage
systems.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Masters of Science degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering,
Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree.
- 5+ years of experience in Design, Development, Validation, and
release for automotive electrical/electronic components.
- Experience completing Electrical Worst-Case Electrical
Analysis.
- High level of competence in writing and comprehending
electrical and hardware requirements and understanding of hardware
and software design and failure modes in electronic modules.
- Knowledge of EV propulsion system architecture and system
implementations and requirements.
- Knowledge of EV charging architecture implementations and
requirements.
- Proven technical and professional skills in systems engineering
area.
- Understanding of electrical design analysis and design
verification of high voltage and low voltage circuits, fuses,
contactors, current sensors, battery management controllers, solid
state relays, EMC, printed circuit board layout, serial
communications, diagnostics and application software.
- Understanding of mechanical design analysis and design
verification of module packaging, fasteners, injection molding,
stamping, extrusions, die casting, sheet metal, bus bars, wiring,
electrical connectors, connector pin crimps, sealing systems,
adhesives, printed circuit board construction, thermal interfaces,
