*About the Role:*
The Process Engineer is responsible for improving productivity and being a continuous improvement champion. This role will work to reduce manufacturing costs and improve process control in a way that results in a safer work environment that consistently meets the Weld-On standards of quality. The Process Engineer will leverage the IPS Business System to document and improve process and transactional flows, define and enforce standard work, improve set-up times, improve productivity (manual, machine, materials), and problem solve by identifying and implementing countermeasures. This role will also develop process, forums, tools, training materials, and poka-yokes to ensure sustainability and continued progress towards improved operational efficiencies.

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*

* Identify, establish, and monitor all available data sources to assess the performance of specific operational areas against safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity (SQDIP) goals / targets.
* Execute on identified countermeasures needed to close any gaps between performance and goals / targets for SQDIP.
* Aid and guide manufacturing associates in addressing process gaps, troubleshooting activities, and resource escalation when needed.
* Create, maintain, and revise all manufacturing related documentation (i.e., standard work instructions, set-up sheets, test method procedures, corrective methods, visual inspection criteria, etc.)
* Analyze, develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing operation sequences, specifications, and equipment requirements for production / assembly of new and existing products.
* Interpret product design requirements into manufacturing process specifications.
* Identify equipment suppliers, secure quotes, and assess technical capabilities. Select supplier based on product trials at suppliers end and justifying the same. Ensure the installation and qualification of equipment with excellent process capabilities.
* Lead (or participate in) new assembly line set-up / layout change efforts.
* Work with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Quality during all phases of product development to optimize designs for cost, performance, manufacturability, service, and reliability.
* Troubleshoot manufacturing problems and implement sustainable corrective actions / design and implement SPC, poka-yoke and other process capability and problem solving and monitoring tools.
* Design & establish appropriate tests for specification and reliability.
* Establish and implement manufacturing flow charts, standard work, procedures, control plans, and FMEAs as prescribed by ISO standards and the IPS Business System.
* Conduct process audits based on customer requirements.
* Must adhere to all standard and specialized PPE requirements and ensure that team members are adhering to all safe work practices.

*Education / Training / Certification:*

*Required:*

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Production, or Electrical Engineering
* 5+ years of experience working as a Process Engineer

*Preferred:*

* Master's degree

*Skills (Technical):*

*Required:*

* Highly proficient using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
* Highly proficient using basic drafting software such as AutoCad
* Thorough understanding of engineering material properties, DFM concepts, ergonomics, and poka-yokes. Working knowledge of tools must be applied when proposing any changes to the manufacturing set-up, as well as designing new manufacturing lines.
* Ability to conceptualize, design, and develop efficient jigs, fixtures, and other tooling and equipment, preferably with automation as feasible.
* Ability to prepare process feasibility study and process flow diagram.
* Working knowledge of process planning, execution, line balancing, capacity planning, and production ramp.
* Experience in the concepts and implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles
* Experience using one or more of the following analytical tools: Structured Problem-Solving methodologies, Statistics, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
* Experience conducting a cost analysis to determine the feasibility of proposed changes while considering other alternatives to reduce costs without sacrificing quality.

*Preferred:*

* Experience using statistical software such as JMP or Minitab
* Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
