Our business model is aligned with building a bundle of parts, services and solutions to meet the needs of military legacy platform operators and maintainers. We believe that our long-term OEM relationships ensure proprietary part availability, and the addition of component MRO and repair management ensure refurbishment needs are addressed. We continue to invest in licensing, proprietary tooling and unique product development to address the late-in-life needs of defense platforms where an OEM solution may no longer be available. The breadth of our solutions for these aircraft operators, across a variety of platforms, is what distinguishes our solution in the global market. Our group of companies includes distribution, maintenance, repair and overhaul, and engineering & manufacturing divisions. We collectively collaborate with key partnerships to provide a suite of complex solutions that addresses operational readiness for end users maintaining these aging aircraft. We support legacy fixed and rotary wing aircraft including but not limited to F-5, T-38, F-16, F-15, F-18, C- 130, P-3, Boeing 707 derivatives and several rotary platforms. Kellstrom Defense is headquartered in El Segundo, CA, USA and has over 200 employees and sales representatives strategically located throughout the world. SUMMARY: The Quality Manager demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. This role will focus heavily on People, Process and Systems and will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: --- Evaluates current procedures and practices for accomplishing department objectives; develops and implements improvements as needed. --- Validate quality product specifications and quality attributes; measure and document objective evidence; determine operational and performance qualifications; develop and update quality --- Provide guidance to Engineering during design and specification requirements to best utilize quality processes and techniques. --- Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including corrective actions, failed processes, recalls, return merchandise and re-validations. --- Conduct periodic reviews of manufacturing and quality systems and create improvement cycles based on performance results. --- Interface with engineering and manufacturing/operations to ensure customer requirements and specifications are flowed down to products and services. --- Support manufacturing and quality project planning and scheduling to assure a seamless execution and delivery of products and services. --- Support quality task sequences, planning (work instructions) and work flow for fabrication, assembly, integration, test, and shipping/receiving. --- Interface with engineering and manufacturing/operations to ensure customer requirements and specifications are flowed down to products and services. --- Support the company quality performance rating process to continually improve customer satisfaction --- Manage Material Review Board activities and control and disposition of non-conforming material. --- Performs other related duties as assigned by management. Key Objectives and Accountabilities --- Champion AS9100 and quality and performance alongside preparing the EP site for AS9100 Rev. D Compliance. --- AS9100 Subject Matter Expert with the responsibility to support the development, implementation and management of the Quality Management System per IS0-9001/AS9100/QMS 14001. --- Generates protocols, reports, and SOPs; reviews protocols, SOPs, product specifications, and records. --- Support first article testing, test analysis, manufacturing processes, process documentation, project work flow and shipping/receiving. --- Manage quality metrics, trends and Lean activities to improve cost, quality and schedule performance. --- Directs and coordinates the activities of the quality control function to ensure achievement of company objectives. --- Implement a quality culture of root cause analysis and corrective action to prevent future escapes and continuously improve quality. --- Develop quality plans by: conducting analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits; monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; and monitoring inventory quality. --- Ensures that quality system requirements are maintained and reported. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: --- Directly supervises 1-2 employees within the Quality department(s). --- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. --- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATIONS: --- Undergraduate technical or business degree desired. --- 10-15 years of professional experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment; or 10 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree. --- Experience in all elements of Quality from design to assembly/integration/test. --- Quality engineer or related discipline, with AS9100 certification or training. --- Experience in Lean/Six Sigma, 5S and Continuous Improvement. --- Experience with the control and disposition of non-conforming material. --- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and relevant applications. --- Ability to communicate effectively and deliver technical presentations. --- Solid analytical skills and solution-driven thinking. --- Detail-oriented to accurately prepare statistical reports and technical documents in support of company objectives. --- Strong business/technical writing, presentation, planning, problem solving, organizational, project management and decision-making skills. --- Able to create and maintain enthusiasm for new and challenging goals. --- Current knowledge of manufacturing technology, productivity and quality measurements, and material/planning systems requiring continual review of methods to optimize productivity. --- Proven ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment is a must.
