Job Description:

*Summary: *Partner with Design in developing future seasons and spear head the continual research & development of fresh and innovative textile and product solutions for Barco's Medical division. With a vast and experienced global resource background, this person will bring qualified sources to the Design team to meet current and future development needs. This is a "roll up your sleeves" position that will directly handle and manage all aspects of product development from concept through design, development, launch and market rollout. Will provide mentoring to assistant and develop strong team partnerships with Merchandising, Design, Sourcing, Sample Dept, Production, Planning and Quality Assurance to ensure a coordinated and efficient productengineering process. Collaborate with Design to obtain critical design information related to the technical developmentrequirements of productincluding; fabric, trim, color direction and style intent. Ensure consistent execution of Barco Uniforms Fit across all divisional garment categories.

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities *include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Implement, maintain and execute consistently to required timelines to meet market rollout deadlines for all development cycle plans and provide detailed progress tracking reports for the same.

Directly handle overall information and workflow between the Design & Product Commercialization groups from conception through development to production-ready status for all products.

Collaborate with Designers, Design Assistants, Sample Room and Sourcing to procure critical design information related to the technical development requirements of a fabrication, style or product.

Shepherd prototype creation through pattern, sample, fit and grading processes collaborating closely with these groups to ensure specification and prototypes are as accurate as possible and represent design intention. Offer suggestions, changes and production perspectives to improve products and insure successful commercialization of the product during manufacturing.

Collaborate with existing suppliers and or new resources in developing and providing Barco with the most innovative textiles and products and will be that resource for Design in providing those ideas, suggestions and options throughout all stages of development.

Establish parameters for style specifications, style measurements, quality standards and construction details. Identify and document any construction details or sew methods that need to be communicated to the garment factories. Review and approve "sew by" samples ensure that the garments meet design requirements, specifications and Barco Uniforms quality standards.

Ensure Bills of Materials, specifications, measurements and construction comments are accurate and maintained in ERP database. Execute to seasonal deadlines assuring styles have complete tech packs sent out to vendor liaison offices for development.

Communicate all style developmentto the appropriate departments keeping them abreast of progress and concerns. Collaborate with Sourcing, Planning and Production to understand suppliers and contractors capabilities.

Identify and source appropriate materials and trims for style development in conjunction with Sourcing. Work with Design in obtaining lab dips required for seasonal needs and oversee the lab dip process from submission to approval keeping all appropriate parties updated in the process. Create and update seasonal materials and parts lists and color development lab dip needs.

Review factory prototypes, salesman samples and pre-production (production when appropriate) for accuracy, color match, quality and function. Communicate findings to the appropriate persons including, Design / Merchandising, Production and Quality Assurance.

Ensure pre-production stage hits every milestone, from fit approval, PP approval, to trim approval.

Create strong partnership with Merchandising/Design, Sourcing, Sample Dept, Production, Planning, Quality Assurance, and the liaison supplier offices to ensure a coordinated and efficient process.

Actively participates in all fit sessions. Review with Design and Sample Dept prototype samples to ensure garments meet design's requirements, are constructed according to the established specifications, and meet Barco's quality standards. Follow through on proper pattern adjustments by in-house sample dept development and supplier development partners.

In collaboration with Design and Sample Dept, identify and document any construction details or sew methods that need to be communicated to the garment factories. Offer suggestions, changes and production perspectives to improve products and ensure successful commercialization of the product during manufacturing. In collaboration with Barco's Quality Manager, update Barco's Quality Assurance Standards Manual as required.

To perform the job successfully the individual must possess strong organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure, meet strict timelines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to motivate individuals involved in the development process. Ability to negotiate development deadlines with individuals/departments involved. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

*Qualifications: *

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have a comprehensive working knowledge of textiles and garment construction and manufacturing sewing operations. Possess excellent understanding of textile's construction, technical aspects and capabilities with an extensive background in sourcing and developing new trims and materials. Requires qualified resource base with vast experience in global sourcing with heavy emphasis in Asia as well as Africa, Europe and Americas regions. Possess senior level working knowledge of textiles / materials and functional aspects of garments. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. *Education/Experience: *

College degree, Textile Certification or equivalent with course work in textiles, patterning, apparel manufacturing or related experience. Seven or more years experience in textile/garment development.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
