At FF, we're creating something new, something connected, and something with a true global impact.Your Role:As the lead control engineer on the Battery Management System, you'll be working with some of the industry's brightest minds to accelerate the delivery of quality FF products to consumer markets. You will be responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing BMS control algorithm and software. Basically, you'll ensure the reliability and robustness of the BMS control as well as the customer experience.Lead BMS control and software activities consisting the following:Work with various cross-functional teams to develop requirements for new BMS features, diagnostics, algorithms, etc.Design, implement and test cutting-edge algorithms for run-time BMS logic to derive State-of-Charge, State-of-Health, State-of-Power and State-of-Energy computations.Develop and enhance existing battery models to ensure Real vs. Simulation accuracy.Develop complex battery aging model(s) which accurately reflect true cell aging patterns.Develop safety-critical BMS control functions such as battery state estimation, fault detection, balancing control, temperature. management, battery contactor control and charging control.Perform FMEA for BMS control software.Support BMS HIL test.Ensures each system change is appropriately approved, then scheduled and reviewed by stakeholders.Ensure software release is on time and aligned with company schedule to deliver production ready battery controls software to vehicle assembly.Collaborate with company software infrastructure group on Functional Safety (ISO-26262) activities.Collaborate with Powertrain Controls, Motor Controls and Propulsion Embedded Software group that provides low level driver and bootloaders (Hardware I/O).Basic Qualifications:Minimum MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional ability5 years of experience in BMS controls including design, implement and test BMS features, diagnostics and control functions and software developmentSolid knowledge in control theoryExperience in FMEA for BMS control softwareExperience with model-based control development using MATLAB/SimulinkPreferred Qualifications:PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or the equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional ability.8years of experience in embedded controls, controls integration, or relevant hardware areasExperience with creating test benches to perform unit testing and documentation of embedded control functionsExperience with hardware-in-loop real-time simulation systemsHands-on experience with battery systems control and charge/discharge operationsExperience with large battery pack battery management system developmentProficiency in C/C Familiar with requirements analysis and developmentPerksBenefits:Stock options for every employeeHealthcaredentalvision benefits (Free for you/discounted for family)401(k)Relocation assistancereimbursementCasual dress coderelaxed work environmentCulturally diverse, progressive atmosphere"Soul of Faraday" community outreach teamSDL2017
