At FF, we're creating something new, something connected, and something with a true global impact.Your Role:As a Battery Enclosure (Structures) Design and Release Engineer, you will be responsible for the overall component/subsystem battery enclosure structure performance for current and future vehicles. You will work in a fast-paced environment to develop and deliver safe products and ensure that structural functions of body are achieved. You will be in charge of battery enclosure projects and activities including both design and engineering throughout the whole phase of vehicle development, i.e., target setting, vehicle benchmarking, concept designing, prototype development and optimization, vehicle testing, refinement and validation, etc.Responsibilities:Create and develop robust Battery Enclosure components (and system) to achieve best-in-class vehicle systems, noise vibration harshness (NVH) and crash performanceUtilize Design for Six Sigma methodologies as appropriate during the design, validation and launch of the programDevelop design concepts and production designs in CATIA V5/6Establish system architecture and functional feasibilityMaterial and process selection to achieve the best cost to weight solutionCreate vehicle-aligned component and system targets for function, cost, weight, and investmentInterpret CAE simulation results, provide design recommendations and integrate the feedback into product designOptimize the concepts and designs with analytical and physical assessments ensuring conformation to Federal regulations governing assigned systemsDeliver world-class craftsmanship and fit/ finishSupport creation of component specification, component Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and other technical design documentsParticipate in sourcing process and release parts for production in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systemInterface with suppliers for manufacturing feasibility, validation, and other engineering activities as specified for the assigned plete component and system validation as required ensuring system targets are met and optimizedLead launch phase of production intent designs at assembly plant, issue resolution with support of manufacturing and quality teamsBasic Qualifications:Bachelor of Science degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or in a closely related field5years of experience in product design, release engineering and launch with an automotive OEM directly or with supplier delivering a major program from concept thru launchExperience with FMVSS requirements and CAE required to deliver requirements specially for diverse under body load casesDemonstrated knowledge in lightweight materials, steel (HSS and UHSS) and compositesDemonstrated experience in design and manufacturing relationship for different part technologies such as stamping, casting, forging, extrusions, etc.Experience with diverse joining technologiesDemonstrated experience with Failure Mode Avoidance tools for predictive designDemonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams: component engineers, full service suppliers, CAE, program management, etc.Demonstrated knowledge with GD&T and dimensional engineeringDemonstrated experience and ability to integrate state-of-the-art design and manufacturing methods into product concepts and designsDemonstrated experience to manage projects with tight timing constraintsDemonstrated experience with problem solving toolsPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline6-Sigma experience and certificationSolid written and oral communication skillsAbility to travel up to 30% within and outside of the U.S. to various unanticipated project sites based on project needs.PerksBenefits:Stock options for every employeeHealthcaredentalvision benefits (Free for you/discounted for family)401(k) optionsRelocation assistancereimbursementCasual dress coderelaxed work environmentCulturally diverse, progressive atmosphere"Soul of Faraday" community outreach teamSDL2017
