Job DescriptionSUMMARYPerforms laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, or gaseous materials for such purposes as quality control, process control, or product development by performing the following duties. Responsible for supporting the QC laboratory through reagent compounding. Perform ID testing, physical property testing and general laboratory upkeep. Individual will be responsible for performing batch reviews on finished products in accordance to cGMP regulations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Sets up, adjusts and operates laboratory equipment and instruments such as microscopes, centrifuge, agitators, viscosimeter, chemical balance scales, spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph, colorimeter, and other equipment.Tests materials used as ingredients in adhesives, cement, propellants, lubricants, refractories, synthetic rubber, plastics, paint, paper, cloth, and other products for such qualities as purity, stability, viscosity, density, absorption, burning rate, and melting or flash point.Tests solutions used in processes such as anodizing, waterproofing, cleaning, bleaching, and pickling for chemical concentration, specific gravity, or other characteristics.Tests materials for presence and content of elements or substances such as hydrocarbons, manganese, natural grease, tungsten, sulfur, cyanide, ash, dust, or impurities.Tests samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.Records test results on standardized forms and writes test reports describing procedures used. Prepares graphs and charts.Cleans and sterilizes laboratory equipment. Calibrates laboratory instruments.Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas.Adds chemicals or raw materials to process solutions or product batches to correct or establish formulation required to meet specifications.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, businesscorrespondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, andfundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
