My client is an internationally recognized freight forwarder that has grown into a $1.5 billion logistics and packaging powerhouse with over 1,500 experts working in 30 countries. My client specialises in international (air and ocean) and domestic transportation, and they utilize CargoWise 1 to track shipments from start to finish. We are looking for a Operations Manager with experience managing a mid-to-large team of Import and Export operations as well as warehouse management.Location: Gardena, CA - 90248Salary: $100,000+Industry: Freight Forwarding, LogisticsSummary:The Operations Manager oversees the organization's branch office's operations, sales, accounting, and customer service by carrying out the following tasks either directly or through delegated supervisors.Core Responsibilities:

• Coordinates operations, sales, accounting, and customer service in accordance with corporate headquarters' policies, principles, and procedures.
• Meets with customers and vendors to evaluate and promote improved and expanded customer service in all areas.
• Creates plans for the efficient use of materials, employees, and equipment as needed.
• Evaluates cost and service quality, and modifies operations programmes to keep the branch profitable.
• Evaluates the operations of competing organisations and plans and directs a sales programme to develop new markets in collaboration with the Director of Sales and Marketing.
• Oversees the preparation of accounting records. Budgets are recommended to management.
• Negotiate rate and space allocation issues with airline partners and ocean carriers.
• Represent the company at business and customer functions as needed.
• Ensure effective team management and regulatory complianceRequired Skills and Abilities:
  • 10+ Years Operations Experience in Freight Forwarding Industry
  • Batchelor's degree in business, logistics or equivalent combination of knowledge and teaching
  • Proficient using Freight Forwarding software (Cargowise 1, SAP, AS400)
  • Understanding and practice in Microsoft Excel and database functions.
  • Out-going and forward-thinking mindset with the ability to decode problems in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and international applicable laws and regulations as they relate to primary services provided (i.e., customs, security, other import and export government agencies)This is a direct-hire, full-time, permanent position.*Only applicants with prior Freight Forwarding and/or Logistics Experience will be accepted*
