Job Description:
Position Summary: Develops and supports the Environmental Health
and Safety standards and programs across the company and or client
site. Supports the EHS team in the development, implementation,
monitoring and continuous improvement of client site. Responsible
for Environmental Health and Safety programs, ensuring compliance
with Federal, state, and Local regulatory requirements. Monitors
environmental compliance issues and provides assistance with
workplace safety matters. Conducts investigations and root cause
analysis and may make resolution recommendations. Implements
corrective/preventative actions and continuous improvement
activities as directed. Develops various reporting systems and
provides safety analysis as required. Performs job hazard
assessments by participating in processes and procedures and
researching industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Participates in EHS site audits, inspections and surveys including
the developing and drafting of audit documentation, tracking
corrective actions, and monitoring trends in results of audit
activities. Modifies and implements compliance tracking programs
and recordkeeping systems. Develops technical documents including
EHS procedures, programs, and guidance documents. Informs personnel
regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose
of providing necessary information for making decisions, taking
appropriate action and/or complying with health and safety
regulations. May respond to emergency situations during or after
hours for the purpose of resolving immediate Familiarity with
local, state, and federal codes as they apply to security and life
safety equipment. Demonstrated knowledge of EHS risks and impacts
of work activities and the benefits of improving EHS performance.
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems. Demonstrated
knowledge of calibration equipment, blueprints, schematics, and
precision measuring equipment. Essential Duties and
Responsibilities include , but are not limited to : Responsible for
planning, implementing and overseeing the organization’s employee
safety program to reduce work-related injuries and ensure company
compliance and adherence to OSHA and UOSH guidelines. Coordinate
efforts of the safety committee including outcomes and
effectiveness. Implement health and safety programs and provide
training to all employees. Analyze work environment for unsafe work
procedures and hazards and recommend changes to work conditions and
procedures to improve the work environment and comply with all
health and safety regulations. Report safety violations and
injuries to the appropriate authorities. Oversee and manage
hazardous waste budget Prepare and submit all required
environmental reports including but not limited to Air Quality
12-Month Rolling Total, Hazardous Waste Monthly Generation Rate,
Quarterly Wastewater Report, Annual Storm Water report, Hazardous
Materials Report, and Pollution Prevention Initiatives. Maintain
records of all required environmental parameters including but not
limited to purchases, storage and usage of all hazardous materials,
pH and flow of all industrial wastewater discharges, preventive
maintenance of all pollution control equipment, visual inspections
of hazardous waste sites, and storm water runoff and stack
emissions. Generate and maintain all required environmental plans
including but not limited to Spill Prevention, Industrial
Wastewater Applications, Notice of Intents, and Conditional Change
Requests. Oversee analytical sampling of environmental sites
including laboratory selection, proper sampling technique, sample
packaging and shipment, and maintenance of reported results. Assist
in the investigation of any accidental releases of hazardous
materials Notify appropriate federal, state and local environmental
agencies in the event of a spill of a hazardous material Organize
and conduct formal training on environmental topics when needed
Maintain on-line records of current Safety Data Sheets (SDSs)
Maintain Environmental Manual detailing current environmental
practices and procedures and provide training and clarification as
needed. Ensure that all hazardous materials are properly
identified, labeled and stored Select hazardous material and
hazardous waste transportation agencies and approve manifests and
other required documentation for shipment Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Experience and Education: Bachelor’s degree , or
equivalent, with 0-2 years of experience . Technical Skills:
Familiarity with OSHA reporting logs Extensive knowledge of
federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations Basic
understanding and navigation of safety resources including OSHA
protocols and compliance. Understanding of OSHA Voluntary
Protection Program and objectives to work towards certification
Understanding of Continuous Improvement (CI) and safety’s role in
CI initiatives within the organization Knowledgeable in the use of
Microsoft Office software and Windows operating s ystem Working
knowledge of general office procedures, filing systems, data entry
techniques and business equipment Ability to thrive in a changing,
fast-paced growing and dynamic business Detail oriented and able to
manage multiple projects simultaneously S trong written and verbal
communication skills Excellent organization skills and attention to
detail Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25lbs as
Extended time on feet Long periods of sitting Potentially long
hours Supervisory Responsibilities : None. Travel Required :
